Description: On Friday 10 February, more than 65 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from 14 schools across Queensland were given a sneak peek at job opportunities in the state's booming resource sector. The Try'aTrade event was held at SkillsTech Australia's Acacia Ridge Training Centre as part of a three-day program organised by the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA) to encourage Indigenous youth to take up long-term and rewarding careers in the resources sector. The event gave students hands-on experience in electrical, diesel fitting, mechanical and engineering trades at Queensland's largest trade and technician training TAFE institute.
